Joint PPC/CPA
Annexation Subcommittee

 Background

The purpose of the Joint PPC/CPA Annexation Subcommittee is to explore whether, and how, to construct a process to effectively deal with annexation and its related considerations in Pinellas County. The subcommittee was originally convened in 2005 to review aspects of Pinellas County’s voluntary annexation reform efforts, and in 2006, it published a report entitled Voluntary Annexation Planning Area Boundary Five-Year Review. After a hiatus, the subcommittee was reconstituted in January 2008 following the court decision that invalidated Ordinance No. 00-63.

The Joint PPC/CPA Annexation Subcommittee held their most recent meeting on June 2, 2008. After final refinement of a draft resolution to initiate a new Interlocal Service Boundary Agreement process, the subcommittee voted unanimously to transmit the resolution to the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) for consideration.

The subcommittee will meet again only if warranted as part of the Interlocal Service Boundary Agreement process that has now been initiated as a function of the subcommittee’s work.
